I have changed the lyrics from this in the recording but most remains the same.

Can you find a feeling in my words
Can you find a place of hurt
Can you see the stars from where I dream
Can you see the stars are falling
Can you understand just what you did
Can you understand you closed the lid

Now everything is gone but I remain

Can I ever learn to trust again
Can I ever learn from all my mistakes
Can I build a bridge to move away
Can I build a future in which to dream
Can I stop my self from giving in
Can I stop this depression from deep within

Now everything is gone but I remain

I will tell you now I will never quit
I love life way to darn much
To want to end it
Sometime thing are bleak and downright sad
But I’m really lucky to be your Dad
I know thing can’t always stay the same
But I hope in my heart you will never turn away

Waiting for you. For you two. I love you.

This has an almost alt-country feel to it - especially the melody in the verse parts. The sparseness of the record is very appropriate to the lyrical content, and one of the beautiful things about your music is how compelling your vocals always are. However, it would be interesting to hear a guitar or keyboard line as a counterpart to the melody, I think. It's lovely as it as, though.
I really like the melodic progression from the verse to the chorus - it's heightens the emotion of the song in a really effective way. Really good stuff, Steve.

I agree with Simon...the simplicity of the recording really does bring out the beautiful lyrical content here. I don't think you should add anything or take anything away from this. Beautifully emotional, simply put and so honest. A really lovely piece of work here.

I would love to hear a little bass on this, just for the depth of the sound. And yes, it's obvious this really comes from your heart. You will probably get lots of suggestions about what to add or not add on this one-- I would say follow your own instincts. They are pretty good, Steven! Groovin

I really like the change going intothe chorus. Goes from upbeat feeling to something more tense but powerful.
The intro and verse had me bopping my head from side to side :) (Smile)
Which is kinda at odds with the lyrics.
So cool.

Nice....Very organic sounding and full of feel...Good chord changes and fluid melody...Production might use some tweaking but nevertheless the purity here takes over regardless...Good show!

The melody and lyrics work perfectly to form a strongly emotional song. There is a kind of fragility that comes across too. Great track! Clapping Clapping Clapping

I have updated this slightly. Added a bit of a beat by hitting some sticks on a bed.

High Five! You're a drummer too? Laughing My Arse Off

The effect on the guitar is cool and gives the instrument a percussive role. Excellent vocal performance with a nice melody line. Some parts of the song are 'harsh' and might need a bit of tweaking on the EQ.
There seems to be an Industrial-Caribbean vibe happening here that is quite unique.

Cool Thumbs Up

Your lyrics are always great! You write so free. "Can you see the stars from where I dream" is such a cool line. I'm not sure if it means the same to you as it does to me, but it makes absolute sense. I agree with miraclemaker - That chorus is very catchy.
