Nice clean recording on this Steve.
Great layering of sounds too (or is that delay?) Sounds like you double tracked the guitar which sounds nice and spacious.
Love the lyrics
Beautiful song

There is a nice 'richness' in your voice that the new microphone seems to capture quite well. I like how this tune is put together....the fast tremolo effect on the guitar, the dramatic melting slowdown in the middle and the bittersweet vocal delivery all come together to make one cool tune.

I've never felt so happy in my life
I've never felt so happy in my life....

First of all, let me say that I'm really excited that you're finally planning to buy a CD. I've been hoping you'd do that for quite a while now.
Okay, so Kristen. The effect on the guitar is really nice, but it does feel a little too heavy to my ears. Also, it's a good vocal performance, but again the echo takes something away from it for me. Remember how you though the studio version of Jessica Jane lost something because the vocal didn't sound as intimate as your old version? Well that's how I feel about this. Your old version is one of my favourite tracks of yours, but this one doesn't have the same effect on me. Having said that...the delicate lead guitar playing is absolutely fantastic and a great new touch to the song. The shift in vocal halfway through is pretty great too. So, an excellent performance, but just a bit too heavy on the effects I feel.

So it took me a couple of days to get here to listen, but I'm glad I did! I have to agree with almost everyone on the tremolo on the guitar. It gives the song a dreamy quality and I like that very much. Your vocal is very clear but, in my opinion, it might be better to lighten up on the echo a touch. Just because with the tremolo and the echo I'm losing the words and I know your words are always really good. This is a lovely tune though! A very enjoyable listen indeed!

Thanks to everyones input. I really appreciate the feedback. I've remixed this again as singing this song of Kristen it means a lot. In the end the best result for this may to re-record but let me know what you all think.
On this version I have reduced the tremolo on the guitar a bit so its got more of the natural guitar recording. The vocal is not without any effects at all which is a huge extreme from the original i put up...still its the same vocal..

This is the lyrics for those who can't fid the lyric page....
She left me in the morning
I wanted to keep snoring
But she woke me up
my little butter cup
My little girl standing all alone
She said hello dad
here are your glasses in my hand
Its time to play its saturday
Get out of bed is what she'd say
Can we see Ron Ron?
Dolly is waiting for me
for us to go wai wai soon you know
for us to go out soon you know
I love this so
I may feel tired but I know
I love this so
I may feel tired but I know I've never felt so happy in my life
(Ron ron is regarding the worlds most famous magical clown)
(Wai Wai is Chinese for going out)

This sounds a lot "cleaner" with less effects.
Makes your vocals sound more like the focus of the song and the message of them comes across more.
I like this better as it sounds more "genuine" - like you're not trying to polish a song you aren't confident in with effects

I really like this song - brilliant lyrics an a very strong & lively performance.
For me... may fav parts are where you sing higher in the second half - very 'Major Tom' feel in places but make no mistake... a really heart-felt piece - NICE!!!

Trademark acoustic & vocal lines.
Just a nice solid tune. Makes me wanna jam, but I'll wait & butcher my own crap. Lyrics are very nice & beat the crap outta anything the radio has to offer these days.

OK I like the tremolo version better it reminds me of Old Floyd.. Sid Barrette ...
BUT... I do think the guitar tremolo down just a notch (just add a bit{maybe 30% wet and 80% dry into the mix , I think it will help allow the vocals to stand out as they seem to wash up in the same frequency } not much just enough to allow those vocals to have that nice wet reverb/delay on them please yes that is fantastic!)
the newer version the dryness of it all is nice as well its more an acoustic sound and we can hear your vocals better (I still prefer the delay the 60's psychedelic feel to the first..) but the frequency seems lower more lows and mids maybe the effect on the first version added to much of the same as the guitar? causing the washed out parts.
like the flange sound with the echo and tremolo caused it ..
I have both so its ok ... but I think the dryer one would be good to archive for Kristen and for one that may be more wild mess some more with those effects till the frequency's work with out washing it all to a wall of sound
Fantastic song and great new mic what is it?

Aw Steve, I love the new version! Hearing Kristin on the track as well is such a great touch. Did you re-do the vocal? Your singing when you up a key is particularly impressive. This is beautifully done, mate. You've done your song proud.
